Alpha Mu Omega's Constitution
Preamble
Alpha Mu Omega believes in fraternalism and the development of its brothers so one may be better prepared for life.
Alpha Mu Omega believes in the bond of brotherhood. Our brothers face adversity with fearless courage and unblemished honor. Our brotherhood advocates strength of character. Brothers are urged to fight persuasions with honor, courage, loyalty and love.
Alpha Mu Omega believes in providing our brothers with the necessary elements to reach the highest academic achievements possible and to uphold the highest respect and love for humanity, fellow man, and oneself.
Article 1
Scope and Authority
This Constitution shall provide the operating rules and guidelines for the University of West Florida Alpha Mu Omega. These rules may be suspended or amended by a 2/3-majority vote of the organization. The president must deem the change to be helpful to Alpha Mu Omega.
The purpose of Alpha Mu Omega is:
- To increase academic awareness.
- To become involved in community service
- To bring people together in brotherhood
Article 2
Membership
- Alpha Mu Omega will be open to all students who satisfy any selection criteria listed herein regardless of race, color, creed, religion, age, physical handicap, disability, marital status or national origin and Alpha Mu Omega will not illegally discriminate on the basis of sex or sexual orientation. Specifically, pursuant to the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Alpha Mu Omega will ensure that all meetings, programs, services or other activities are accessible to individuals with disabilities and that reasonable accommodations are made as necessary.Hazing is not allowed at any Alpha Mu Omega event.
- Special selection criteria
- All brothers must keep at least a 2.0 GPA
- Alpha Mu Omega is open to all races and religions
- All brothers must be attempting 6 credits per semester during the fall or spring semesters
- Brothers must participate in community service. Alpha Mu Omega must be present for 10 hours per semester
- Involved in 10 hours
- Eligibility to vote
- A brother becomes eligible to vote once he has paid his dues. Being inactive removes the voting privelege
- Reasons for withdrawal
- Alpha Mu Omega is not meeting his standards
- Officers are not fulfilling their duties
- There are no refunds for withdrawl
