Article 3

Officers


  1. The President and Vice President will serve a one-year term being elected and installed no later than one month prior to the end of spring. As long as the President and Vice President are eligible to vote, they may be nominated for their positions again.


  2. The officer selection process will be as follows: the outgoing President shall open the floor for nominations/applications for the President and Vice President positions. Candidates may be allowed to speak and answer questions. Balloting should be by written ballot. In the event the outgoing President is a nominee/applicant then another officer should chair the selection process. After the new President and Vice President are selected, they will complete the officer selection process following the same procedure. The new President and Vice President shall choose the Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian if deemed necessary. Brothers that gain majority favor with the remaining brothers will only fill these positions.


  3. The duties of the President:
    1. Preside at all meetings
    2. Appoint emergency committees as needed to accomplish the goals of Alpha Mu Omega
    3. Develop meeting agendas for all regular meetings
    4. If Parliamentarian is deemed unnecessary then those duties will fall upon him

  4. The duties of the Vice-President:
    1. Perform the duties of the President during his absence
    2. Provide direction to the standing and emergency committees as needed
    3. Assist the President with developing meeting agendas for all regular meetings
    4. Monitor attendance of events set forth by AMΩ

  5. The duties of the Secretary:
    1. Maintain complete and accurate records of all meetings
    2. Distribute minutes to all members
    3. Notify all members of meeting schedules, distribute meeting agendas
    4. The remainder of the Parliamentarian duties will fall to him

  6. The duties of the Treasurer:
    1. Manage and account for Alpha Mu Omega funds to include initiating and posting payments, posting collections and generating appropriated reports
    2. Report on financial status at each meeting

  7. The duties of the Parliamentarian:
    1. To insure that business meetings are conducted in an efficient and consistent manner
    2. To oversee committees progress

  8. Officer not available:
    1. If an officer is not available then, an officer that is below that officer in rank will be promoted temporarily

    2. The highest-ranking member that is not an officer will then, fill in for the officer that was promoted

  9. Faculty Advisor:
    1. To oversee the complete development of the Fraternity
    2. Check the meeting transcripts
    3. Process by which an advisor is chosen:
      1. Dedication to his students
      2. Dedication to the school
      3. Dedication to allow students to experiment

Article 4

Meetings

  1. Alpha Mu Omega shall meet weekly at a time and place agreed upon at the first meeting of each term. Members must be notified of in advance of any changes in the meeting schedule.
  2. An agenda will be prepared by the Secretary, as directed by the President, and distributed not less than two (2) calendar days prior to a regular meeting. Items to be placed on the agenda are to be submitted to the President, Vice President or Secretary two (2) calendar days prior to a regular meeting. Unless the item has to do with finances, then the Treasurer should be informed. Agendas for special meetings will be disseminated as appropriate.
  3. Quorum shall be defined as 50% plus 1 of the members.
  4. Dress Code:
    1. Cargo pants, khakis, or slacks. No denim pants. No shorts
    2. SLeeved and collared shirt with tie
    3. No open hell/toe shoes
  5. Authorization to call a special meeting: Any active brother may call a special meeting
    1. Brothers: fines do not apply for absentees if the meeting is not authorized by officers
    2. Officers: fines will apply as normal (i.e., seen as a regular chapter meeting)
