An Overview for Parents
You are part of this journey to find the perfect university. Your opinions, your priorities, and your expectations are largely involved in a decision made by your son or daughter. We wanted to take a second to make sure you understood the kind of educational experience we provide for students.
UWF is located in Pensacola. We serve just under 10,000 full-time and part-time undergraduates and another 2,000 or so graduate and professional students. We pride ourselves on giving students:
- A sound academic foundation
- The flexibility to enjoy practical and emerging opportunities
- Mentoring and support before, during and after their time on campus
- A genuine and caring environment
Difference that Matters @ UWF
It's the first thing people notice about a university: it's size. The size of a university says a lot about what it offers its students. UWF is too small to be considered large and too large to be considered small. As a mid-size university, UWF combines the best of:
- Smaller class sizes and personal attention students need
- Resources and reach of a true university
That means our faculty of teacher/scholars actually teach. In addition to knowing students’ names, UWF professors engage them through:
- Active, practical and forward-looking learning
- Real-world preparation through undergraduate research and internships, using modern, integrated technology
- Collaborative projects, where students and professors work together to further research in their chosen field or something to benefit the entire globe (like the ecological impact of an oil spill, for example)
