High School Academic Requirements
Every applicant will receive a unique, comprehensive review of all application materials submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Applicants not meeting the minimum requirements listed below will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Admissions Decision Committee. Please note that the writing section of the SAT and/or ACT is required for an admission decision. An applicant will be considered incomplete until we receive the required writing score.
1. High School Academic Units:
Eligible candidates will have the following units completed by high school graduation:
4 units – English
4 units – Math (Algebra I and above)
3 units – Natural Science
3 units – Social Science
2 units – Foreign Language (Level II or higher)
2 units – Electives from areas above
2. GPA Recalculation:
High school GPA’s will be recalculated using only the grades in the academic courses listed above.
3. ACT / SAT:
We accept either the ACT or SAT (or both).The best sub-sectional scores from each test will be used for the evaluation. Be sure to submit all test results. The writing section is required for an admissions decision. Applicants with at least a recalculated GPA of 2.5 or higher will need to have the following sub-sectional test scores:
ACT:
English -17 / Math -19 / Reading -19 / English Writing (EW) -18
Critical Reading -460 / Math -460 / Writing -440
4. (Optional) Additional Items
The following items are not required but, may also be taken into consideration as a part of the evaluation process:
- Letters of recommendation
- Personal Essay
- Resume - summary of special talents or skills
