In 2005, a joint Provost and Faculty Senate task force began work on redesigning principles and processes for annual evaluation, tenure, and promotion at the University of West Florida. Following broad constituent input, consultations with the UFF, and recommendations from the Faculty Senate, the resultant “Annual Evaluation, Tenure & Promotion Policy” became effective in the 2010-11 academic year.
Pursuant to the UFF-UWF Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), faculty members making application for either tenure or promotion in the 2012-13 academic year will be evaluated under the criteria as they existed prior to the newly-adopted criteria unless they notify their Chair, with a copy to their Dean and to the Provost, on or before August 9, 2012 that they wish to be evaluated under the newly-adopted criteria.*
NOTE: This applies to all faculty members making application for tenure or promotion unless they notify their Chair, with a copy to their Dean and the Provost, on or before August 9, 2012, that they wish to be evaluated under the newly-adopted criteria. |
NOTE: This will only apply to faculty members who have notified their Chair, with a copy to their Dean and the Provost, on or before August 9, 2012, that they wish to be evaluated under the newly-adopted criteria. |
*The relevant CBA articles are as follows:
Article 15.3(f) – Faculty being considered for Promotion: “. . . If a faculty member makes application for promotion within three (3) years following the effective date of the changes in promotion criteria, such faculty member will be evaluated under the previous criteria unless he or she has notified the University in writing at least thirty (30) days prior to commencement of the promotion review process of a choice to be evaluated under the new criteria.”
Article 16.4(e) – Faculty being considered for Tenure: “. . . If a faculty member has at least three (3) years of tenure-earning credit as of the date on which the tenure criteria are adopted under section 16.4(a-d), the faculty member will be evaluated for tenure under the criteria as they existed prior to modification unless the faculty member has notified the University at least thirty (30) days prior to commencement of the tenure consideration that he or she has chosen to be evaluated under the newly-adopted criteria.”
