Christina Genualdi
UWF degree and year of graduation:
BS, Environmental Policy, 2007
Why did you choose to attend UWF?
I had many reasons for choosing UWF. I visited 33 other campuses across the country and saw UWF last. I knew I wanted to study something that had to do with the environment and still have an active college life. For me, UWF was perfect. It had the best of everything.
What were your goals as a student?
I think my goals were the same as everyone’s to make an impact on campus and to make the university and myself better by attending. I think that is what everyone wants from his or her college experience.
What is your best memory from your days at UWF?
Orientation! I made so many friends during orientation that I am still close with today. I learned so much with those people. We were away from our parents for the first time and learning about the school we were going to attend. It made me really excited about coming to school here.
Who was your favorite professor and why?
Dr. Droubay was my major advisor and also a professor of mine. He would tell stories in class using his life and professional experiences as examples. He made it seem more real to us. He also gave us contacts and resources to help us be successful after graduation. I have never meet a professor on campus who did not have the student’s best interest at heart.
What do you do now?
I am taking a year off to study for the LSAT and apply to law schools.
How did UWF help you progress to this point?
Being such a small school, I didn’t realize that people at UWF have so many contacts. We had help getting personal contacts to help us after graduation and our UWF professors have respect on a national level that will help me in the long run.
How do you stay connected to UWF?
I am a recent graduate, so I still get emails about activities on campus and I stay close with friends that are still in school. I also maintain my other connections on campus with phone calls and visits.
What advice do you have to current and future UWF students?
Don’t limit yourself. If you want something, go for it. Don’t have any regrets.
What quality makes UWF special or unique?
When I came to Open House, they did the groups by major. I was the only Environmental Studies student, so I got a very personal tour of campus. I felt very connected and got a one on one tour and my guide was very open and honest with me about what to expect as a student here.
